Overview
Udyam Registration is an initiative launched by the Government of India on 1 July 2020 to promote small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country. The Udyam platform aims to simplify the registration process for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing a single-window system for registration, thereby enhancing ease of doing business. The classification of MSMEs under Udyam is based on investment in plant and machinery or equipment and annual turnover, which helps in defining the scale of the business and enables them to avail various benefits. Registered MSMEs can access numerous government schemes, financial assistance, and subsidies, which are crucial for their growth and sustainability. Additionally, Udyam registration (also known as MSME registration) enhances the credibility of the business, making it easier to secure loans and attract investors. Overall, Udyam Registration is a pivotal step towards creating a robust ecosystem for MSMEs, facilitating their development, and driving India's economic progress.
